Joan Fontcuberta：質疑攝影的真實性，成為 一種藝術形式。

Joan Fontcuberta:
"My mission is to warn people about the possibility that photography can be doctored..."  我的任務是告誡人們，攝影可以被篡改的可能性....

1988年，我在紐約的MoMA，看到 Joan Fontcuberta 的 Fauna 系列展覽，令我驚歎藝術家的想像力。 



Joan Fontcuberta 是2013年 哈蘇基金會 國際攝影獎得主，他使用攝影圖像的講故事能力，創造一個現實，具有 視覺吸引力的、說服力的、惡作劇的。

Fauna, also known as "Dr. Ameisenhaufen's Fauna" or "Secret Fauna", challenges the notion of "scientific truth".

他認為，每一個再現 就是一個攝影的“情節設計”（photographic McGuffin）。他的想法是，在現實的博物館，再現 宏大敘事的另一手段是 某種視覺引用 （visual quotation marks）；“情節設計” 帶領觀者 無條件地相信，該機制正在強加給他們的任何敘述。

Fontcuberta 的作品，關於 事實與虛構的模糊界限。

Fontcuberta 要我們質疑 我們看到的是什麼，使我們的 後見之明 更當代。 我們應該以懷疑的態度，對待我們看到的一切，並更緊密思考，是誰在幕後？為什麼它被顯示？

基本前提是，誰在向我們說謊？ 他們說是什麼樣的謊話？什麼是他們使用 而使我們相信的工具？

從19世紀的攝影史，可看到這些慣習到處都是。 
操縱 戰爭的描寫（Timothy Gardner）、再現 死亡的忌諱（Roger Fenton）、利用攝影將異族文化 變成異國情調 （Edward Curtis）、行為 偽裝成為事實（Charcot）。這些都是“專制”慣習的歷史例子。

Fontcuberta  所做的就是玩弄這些慣習。“我把這樣的信息傳遞給其他的情況，所以作為 對於教堂、博物館、學術界的，科學的 話語的批判。

It’s an authoritarian way of imposing a particular kind of knowledge on people, and photography is used to add pressure to that knowledge."
