歷史遺址的爭奪戰
我們的《Free Your Mind》的基礎課程,討論到“重演”的觀念:模仿歷史事件或戰役,重新演出歷史。
攝影家 Gregg Segal ,與美國內戰的重演者 (re-enactors),於歷史戰役遺址,角色扮演,重演歷史。結合兩個時空,古今對比。這些遺址因為現代發展,已失去歷史樣貌。
從當今的現況,回顧歷史,不但蒼海桑田,更有古今錯置的突梯滑稽。
以古諷今, 1861 to 1865 的美國内戰,遭遇了當今資本主義社會。
死傷慘重的内戰,到底為何而戰呢?

Locust Grove, Va.

Virginia on May 4, 1864, leaving nearly 100,000 casualties over the
following 50 days.

the winter of 1862-63, over 40,000 Confederates were encamped here. To
pass the boredom in camp, great snowball fights would erupt, including
one that was so violent that snowball fights were banned.
