歷史遺址的爭奪戰

我們的《Free Your Mind》的基礎課程，討論到“重演”的觀念：模仿歷史事件或戰役，重新演出歷史。

攝影家 Gregg Segal ，與美國內戰的重演者 (re-enactors)，於歷史戰役遺址，角色扮演，重演歷史。結合兩個時空，古今對比。這些遺址因為現代發展，已失去歷史樣貌。

從當今的現況，回顧歷史，不但蒼海桑田，更有古今錯置的突梯滑稽。

以古諷今， 1861 to 1865 的美國内戰，遭遇了當今資本主義社會。

死傷慘重的内戰，到底為何而戰呢？



Locust Grove, Va.
Confederate re-enactors pose at the Germanna Heights apartments. General Ulysses Grant and Robert E. Lee clashed for the first time in central Virginia on May 4, 1864, leaving nearly 100,000 casualties over the following 50 days.

Spotsylvania County, Va.
Robert Lee Hodge sits on picket duty near the Old Telegraph Road. In the winter of 1862-63, over 40,000 Confederates were encamped here. To pass the boredom in camp, great snowball fights would erupt, including one that was so violent that snowball fights were banned.
